Zipping into Fall!

Hello dear friends!  We're moving right along into the "fall," aren't we?  Well I'm just hoping for a weather forcast that includes temperatures in the upper 80s instead of upper 90s . . . but a girl can dream, can't she?  I went to the Salvation Army's 50% Wednesdays and bought a sweater . . . in faith that winter will come this year!  Check out the sweat drops on this poor child's head.

For now though, we are squeezing in a few more pool days.  I'm afraid my little dolphin swimmer girl is going to be really sad when the pool is closed!  Wow she's come a loooong way from May, when she wouldn't get her face wet!

Forest enjoys hanging out on the side with his best friend Jimmie.  I think these two may just be best friends until they are old and grey!  None of the fighting that our girls did!

The boys have been doing a bit of boating, to everyone's delight!  Trying to find a non-windy night is a bit of a challenge around here, but they occasionally occur!

Shannon got her first "real" haircut- an adorable bob!  It's perfect for her super-thin hair, gave it some body and gave her some {un-needed} sass, ha!  Despite the strange look on Forest's face, he was a perfect audience as Shannon got her hair-cut. In fact, it was one of those parenting experiences that make all the hard days worth it- the gal that cut Shan's hair (Shabiki) and the owner (a man who also cuts Jer & I's hair), raved over how well behaved the kids were.  "And believe us, we've seen BAD!"  I thanked God for his work in my children, as I smiled and said "Thank you, we work very hard on it!"

And I was going to update on our "school days" but it got so long I realize I need a whole different post!  For now, this is what my Sunday planning looks like:

Photobucket

*  my calendar for the week's schedule
*  our home-school calendar & planning pages- so I don't have to think it up on the "fly"
*  master to-do list- projects and things that need done around the house
*  a pencil-sketch of things to be done each day (Monday-paperwork, Tuesday-sewing, when to exercise, when our meetings are, etc.).  It's the start of a weekly routine.
*  I-pad for consulting Pinterest . . . which is how I organize home school materials/ideas, recipes to try or already tried, project ideas, etc.  Also for grocery sale-ads, etc.

If I sit and stare at all these things long enough, a plan for the week emerges!

And with that . . . I'm off!  Our boys are doing great- no complaints here.  We adore the little boys, so glad we were able to make the switch.  The Ranch does DESPERATELY need a relief house-parent for the teen boys, though.  If you know anyone who wants to move to sunny Florida and work with teens, let me know!

your mom is always sooo happy when you have a new post, love to keep up with everything you're involved in and see the latest pictures. Forest will have to stay home when Shannon gets older, that's not an encouraging face!
love you
